Cataract surgery is the core activity of Dr. Zamindar’s Microsurgical Eye Centre. All cataract surgeries at Zamindar clinic are performed only by Dr.Zamindar, ensuring our customers get the best expertise and care.
Dr. Zamindar, trained under Dr Ashok Shroff, in Navsari for Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery in the year 2000, was one of first few surgeons in Bangalore to have adopted this methodology. She has performed over 15,000 cataract surgeries till date.
ZMEC has laid down stringent Pre-Operative Procedures and follows them meticulously. We do a thorough work-up and analyses to test and diagnose before the surgery to give best results to the patients. Some of the Standard Procedures adopted before surgery are listed below:
A-Scan - ZMEC conducts 2 types of A-Scan to decide the power of Intra-Ocular Lens. We use contact method using Axis 2 and the Immersion method using Occuscan. We are proud to say that, post-operation, the vision of all of our patients is 6/6. That is in other words, post the cataract operations, the patients will not be required to wear glasses for distance viewing. The patients can read, sew and watch television without glasses.
ZMEC uses Pachymetry to rule out any Cornea abnormalities.ly before surgery
OCT: To access Retina accurately before surgery
Humphry Field Analyser: To rule out any incidence of Glaucoma associated with cataract.
B-scan is used to assess the inside part of the eye or the space behind the eye when the cataract is dense and mature.
State-Of-The-Art Operation Theatre
ZMEC is equipped with Best-in-class technology. We have an Air-Conditioned Operation Theatre backed with generator. We use Infinity Ozil technology from Alcon, BPL Pulseoxymeter and Ziess Microscope to perform Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery.
We use Alcon’s foldable intraocular lenses which is the World’s leading brand of lens with over 50 million implants around the World.
The OT is linen-free, that is, in other words all consumables including the scrubs are disposable. The OT is sterilised, UV light is switched on and we use only Kent water for cleaning instruments and for scrubbing. We follow the sterilisation and fumigation protocols meticulously each and every time. We are proud to say that, ZMEC has a record of 100% infection-free post-op results.
We follow the AIOS (All India Ophthalmology Society) standard protocol to monitor the progress of the patient’s vision after cataract surgery.
• Patient is examined 3 hours, post-op
• Patient is periodically checked: 2 days after surgery, 1 week after surgery and 1 month after surgery.
• We keep meticulous records of the post-op eye on each patient visit to facilitate a smooth post op recovery.
Phaecoemulsification is a quick outpatient procedure that corrects vision with little discomfort and rapid return to normal activities. It requires a tiny incision and breaks up the cataract with ultrasound waves. Next, a soft, flexible synthetic intraocular lens (IOL) is inserted into the lens capsule of the eye. There is also a multifocal lens option to provide distant, near and intermediate vision.
In most cases, the incision is so small that the eye heals rapidly with little or no discomfort. Drops are used after cataract surgery. The Patient can resume all activities within 2-3 days.
